At 0400 I got a message from Jason that an emergancy C-section was in progress. Later I got word that Zelie was born and baptized. (first part of our request is fulfilled, baptized!).
Tomorrow Zelie will meet with a doctor and have her heart checked. As I understand the concern was that she should could be born and immediately need an operation, but not yet. We are praying for her to be completely healed and have zero health issues. Good news is that Zelie was a good and healthy weight for being about a month early.
I have added Elizabeth to the prayer request because she has MS and her family really needs her. We need her to be around and healthy for a long time because she needs to be there for Zelie who will be around and healthy for a long time. So the prayer below is updated. In addition there's a family in Oklahoma who also has a baby coming and she needs prayers as well. I offered to, on the drive out there, swing by and visit them so that they will have a chance to help in their way to raise Blessed Father to Saint, and of course have their baby nice and healthy. I would gladly still go (more below) and hit anyone else on the route and add them to this petition.
God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender
of the widow and orphan, you called your priest,
Blessed Michael McGivney, to be an apostle of
Christian family life and to lead the young to the
generous service of their neighbor. Through the
example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son,
Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment
of charity and building up his Body which is the
Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us
to greater confidence in your love so that we
may continue his work of caring for the needy and
the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify
Blessed Michael McGivney on earth according to the
design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant
the favor I now present, the sudden complete and total healing of Zelie Marie Ferguson's heart so that she may be born safely in health and receive holy baptism (also for Elizabeth Ferguson that if God wills she may be cured of MS) and baby Pucek.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
Now, in regards to driving to Texas. When this whole plan to drive to Texas began, I was prepared to get the relic of Fr. McGivney and take off immediately in order to get it to the Ferguson’s as soon and as securely as possible. I just didn’t trust the mail system enough. I had my oil changed, clothes packed, and was ready to go. Unfortunately, the vice postulate for Bl. Fr. McGivney got covid and has been unable to send the relic. I believe now, with Zelie born and baptized, it is best to allow the relic to be mailed directly to the Ferguson’s. All donations made towards the pilgrimage-that-wasn’t will, of course, be returned. Ned (dad in Ok), I recommend you also reach out to Brian and I will as well and we will all be praying for your baby. Pax, Sean
