A quick update on baby Zelie.
A reminder that I ask folks to please pray and share these intentions far and wide.
When my niece’s husband was in the hospital with Covid in January one central person asking for prayers, having masses said, and generally concerned for Joe was a friend I've never met. I shared with Jason the request to pray for Joe, he in turn wrote to countless friends and contacts in religious life asking for prayers. Then this friend shared back with me all the very generous responses that were being passed along. So many people were praying (and I suspect so many coming from really sincere Catholic people) that how could God not help Bl Fr Michael McGivney perform the miracle that very possibly saved Joe's life.
So I feel indebted, which I'm sure if I was a holy person would be the wrong response. Were I actually a holy person perhaps I would only want to see Zelie's little heart fixed for the glory of God. Maybe I would want it to show how God's saints still intercede for us in a real way. But I just want this beautiful baby safe. I love Fr McGivney but don't care if the world ever finds out about his intercession. I mean sure it would be great for this miracle to change the heart of some hardened doctor who hates Christians, or some reprobate nurse who seeing this converts; but as nice as that would be I want Zelie to go home to a quiet and unknown corner of the world and live a wonderful life unknown to the rest of humanity.
The first class relic that I hoped to deliver to Jason and Elizabeth (for selfish reasons, I think I wanted to butt in and be part of this) has made it via the mail to Texas. It was a battle in a way just to get it to her and there was waiting and on my part a lot of anxiety. It didn't make it before she was born (I guess God has His ways) but she has been blessed with it. Actually it changed hands a few times just to get to to her and at the last moment the priest that was going to bless Zelie with it contracted covid and couldn't make it. So again not according to the plan designed by the boots on the ground she was blessed. Another note is that she was supposed to have the echocardiogram the day the relic arrived but it was rescheduled. So she was blessed first with it and then the next morning was the test.
Sadly the results did not change from previous. She is stable (a great blessing in itself, and greater is that she was born and baptized), but thus far no great medical miracle that can be measured.
So where we are at the moment is that Zelie Marie is stable, and beautiful.
I will ask that you please continue to pray for her and these other intentions and also please share this prayer.
God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender
of the widow and orphan, you called your priest,
Blessed Michael McGivney, to be an apostle of
Christian family life and to lead the young to the
generous service of their neighbor. Through the
example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son,
Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment
of charity and building up his Body which is the
Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us
to greater confidence in your love so that we
may continue his work of caring for the needy and
the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify
Blessed Michael McGivney on earth according to the
design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant
the favor I now present, the sudden complete and total healing of Zelie Marie Ferguson's heart (also for Elizabeth Ferguson that if God wills she may be cured of MS) four year old Patrick who has Leukemia, and lastly baby Pucek due in September.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
